As of 2015, New Durham is a SB2 town. State-wide and Congressional elections are held in even-numbered years, on the Tuesday after the first Monday of November. Presidential elections are held every four years, on the same day. Primaries for state-wide and Congressional elections are held in even-numbered years, the second Tuesday of September. Presidential primaries are held early in the year of the Presidential election, at a date to be determined by the NH Secretary of State.

HB 1569 which took effect in November 2024, new voter registration laws. In order to register to vote whether on election day or with the Town Clerk or Supervisors of the Checklist, you must provide documentation of: proof of identity with photo, age, and United States Citizenship, and domicile in the Town.

The Law no longer authorizes an applicant to complete affidavits for voting or registering to vote.

Registered voters must prove their identity at the polls with an qualified photo ID to receive a ballot.
